you know, 'that' mom

This year I was 'that' mom. You know the one who can barely keep herself from rubbing her hands together with glee in anticipation of school starting? That mom. I don't want to be 'that' mom. I love my boys and I treasure having them around. Heck, I am thrilled that Tommy isn't starting kindergarten until next year because I am not quite ready to turn him over the real school. But. This year he is going to pre-k five mornings a week and do you know what that means? Do you? It means that this morning everyone got up to their alarm clocks, got dressed and ate breakfast while it was still misty outside and before taking Tommy to school the breakfast dishes were done. It means that Johnny and I went to the gym while Tommy learned things and I still had time to shower, get ready for the day and make the beds before pick-up. It means that at 12:30, we are still on schedule. Score! Oh, how I adore the schedule. I love the order and predictability of school days, none of this wander around in our jammies until noon business that happens in August. Just blissful order. Sigh.

I miss my kiddos but I am loving the free time and that I can get things done!

Oh I think you can be both kinds of mom. Astonished that they are growing up so much, nervous that they are headed to Kindergarten and will be away from you and giddy out of your mind to have a schedule, some order and some free time. I know I am.

I live on that schedule "High" all year, if possible. But I admit, a little wandering now and then is good for the soul!

"That" mom is just more sane than the rest of us with all jumping beans at home.

You are so lucky that he is at school until 12:30. Corbin's kindergarten is only 3 hours long and he catches the bus so early in the morning. I can't wait until next year when he's in first grade and Isaac's in preschool!!! Does johnny really miss tommy?
